All I know is that they came with the rain, with the flood.
The strange creatures appear in the forest up in the Colorado mountains. The gentle, warm September rain doesn’t stop and the creek floods, washing out the dam that serves as the driveway and then carries off the massive fallen tree that is the shortcut down into town.
Trapped, before ten year-old Julian can find the answers, he and his older sister Cate need to get help to save Mom and little sister Grettie. Dad could have helped, but Mom drove him away.
There’s one big problem: the creatures keep coming, and they’re not what they seemed — or pretended — to be.
